Dare to style with color! I have never believed that certain complexions and hair color are confined to wearing only certain shades. There are certain colors which can create a mood or expression.
Green gives a feeling of freshness and balance and lavender is a spiritual color and gives the wearer a look of peace and serenity. Red looks powerful and renders the wearer in control. Pink is a highly feminine look and gives off the appearance of health and romance. Blue is a calming color and makes the wearer look happy.
Monochromatic dressing
Head to toe in one color no matter what your budget always looks pulled together.
Style with White
Although white is now an option for year round wear, in order for it to work, and not come off looking like a nurse’s uniform, there are considerations.
- When wearing a white coordinate, it’s important to offset the white with a bright color. White just won’t work paired with a pastel.
- White looks best ironed and crisp.
- Cinch oversized white, or you could look like you’re wearing a tent or sheet.
- Pair white with chunky heels so the look doesn’t come off too prim or look like you’re wearing a nightie.
- Offset white with glowing skin or bright lips. Without it you’ll appear washed out.
Metallics
Wearing metallic is a great way to present flair but needs to be done in moderation. Celebrities use metallics with casual wear like jeans or a casual cardigan. It tends to look garish when it’s overdone. You need to choose whether you will use metallic in your clothing or your accessories. You can’t do both.
Metallic shines, so place it on the area that you want to highlight. A smoky eye and tousled hair works best with this look.
Going BoHo
Bohemian styling is often seen on stars. One piece is all you need. Anything more is overkill. Wear a handcrafted dress with a pump. Pair a poncho with tailored jeans. Large handcrafted jewelry is best showcased on simple lines. Peasant blouses only work when anchored with a slim line like a pencil skirt or straight pants.
