As a dermatologist, I always get questions on how so fix a shaving rash or how to heal sunburn faster. When there is a beauty emergency, anything and everything will be tried. Here’s few tips I learned over time.

Cold Sores

Catch the warning signs of an oncoming cold sore. A tingling sensation starts about 12 hours before the sore appears. Dab a little Pepto Bismol on the sore. Just the way it fights the virus that causes diarrhea it also combats a cold sore.

Sunburn

A bottle of vinegar added to a warm bath will soothe the sunburn while making skin extra soft. Try raspberry vinegar for an aromatherapy touch.

Shaving Rash Breast forms

To soothe shaving irritation, chill wet chamomile tea bags and place them on the inflamed skin. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory antibacterial and pain relieving properties.

Bruises

Speed the healing with vitamin K or arnica, a homeopathic plant remedy for black and blue marks. Combine them by purchasing vitamin K in liquid form and mixing with arnica cream.

Thigh Pimples

Hourglass angel blackThe friction of thighs rubbing together, wearing tight pants, and panty hose all contribute to little red bumps which resemble a bad case of acne. Besides showering immediately following a workout, and wearing cotton, treat these breakouts just as you would the acne on your face. Make them less painful and allow them to heal by applying cornstarch or medicated powder to the area.

Bikini Rash

Very close shaving can make hairs split and loop under the surface of the skin. They push against your skin and cause inflammation and redness. Treat the area with tea tree oil, available at most drugstores or health stores.

Heat Rash

At the first sign, use a medicated healing lotion and avoid wearing friction causing tight clothing. Keep the area that may be exposed to friction cool and dry with medicated powder, ear cotton clothing to allow the skin to breathe.

Bloating

Eating food too fast, talking while eating, drinking too many carbonated beverages and chewing gum can all cause bloating. They bring extra air into the intestines. When this happens you feel like you have a spare tire around your middle or you’ve gained five pounds overnight. You can prevent bloating by taking smaller bites and chewing your foods thoroughly. Avoid drinks that are too cold or too hot. Help relieve the bloating by drinking lemon balm tea.

Foot Odor

Just like the rest of your body, your feet perspire. The warmth and moisture of your shoes and sneakers allow odors to quickly build up. Rub on alcohol or tea tree oil daily to kill bacteria. Dust feet with baking soda before shoes and socks and avoid shoes made of vinyl which trap perspiration. Don’t forget to pray antiperspirant into your shoes five minutes before wearing. Anti-Intimacy Foods

Avoid gas producing foods, especially beans and cabbage at least 24 hours before that special event or rendez-vous. That’s how long these foods can take to go through your system. Also avoid carbonated beverages, raw vegetables, and curry.

Tired Skin

Revive dull skin and put on an instant glow with Alka Seltzer. It contains aspirin to soothe irritation, and the fizziness restores a healthy flush. Drop two tablets in a sink fill with cold water. Splash face several times and pat dry. 

Stop a Shaving Cut

Put pressure on the cut for five minutes with a tissue soaked in a nasal decongestant spray (like Afrin). This stops blood flow by constricting blood vessels.

Chapped, Flaky Lips

Chill a black tea bag for a couple of minutes. Rub on clean dry lips in a circular motion. Black tea contains tannins that exfoliate dead cells. Follow with a lip balm or lip moisturizer.

Disguise Rosacea

Dab the reddened area with maple syrup, an anti-inflammatory that calms and soothes skin. Rinse after two minutes. Another solutions is to press undiluted dandruff shampoo on the area with a cotton ball and leave on for a minute. Rinse with cool water.

Cuts and Cracks Solution

For those pesky cuts from shaving or the elements rely on this crazy tip. Use Krazy Glue! Hospitals use a similar material to stop bleeding. Dab on a drop and then immediately remove any excess.
