Who among us doesn’t want to look as fabulous as possible without a lot of time, money, or effort? That are a lot of wonderful beauty techniques that are really cheap, but still effective.
Cheap Skin Care
Skin care is cost effective. Take care of it, and you’ll end up spending less on corrective products like concealers and clarifiers. Your skin should be your first beauty priority because it’s the canvas for the rest of your looks. Your makeup no matter how advanced can’t possibly look good on neglected, abused skin.
Power Up Your Rituals
After showering or bathing rub sesame or olive oil all over to seal in moisture. Use raw sugar to exfoliate your skin. You can purchase convenient individual packets at most grocery stores. Find them in the baking aisle. Lighten dark patches of skin on elbows, knees, and under arms with a soft paste of lemon and sugar.
Make It Last
Intensify your perfume and make it last longer by dabbing petroleum jelly on your pulse points before applying. The perfume will adhere more easily to the jelly than it does to dry skin.
Cheap Wrinkle Peel
Here’s a natural yet effective alternative to expensive chemical peels. Mash up a green papaya and apply it directly to your skin. Let it set for 30 minutes. Green papayas contain rejuvenating antioxidants and papain, an enzyme that dissolves damaged skin cells and promotes cell turn over.
Cheap Blemish Busters
For mild breakouts keep benzyl peroxide in your medicine cabinet, available over the counter at drugstores. It is highly effective at killing the bacteria that causes acne.
Apply it with a cotton ball or cotton swab to clean dry skin. Only dab on the blemish itself, not on the surrounding area. Apply hemorrhoid cream to a large bump about a half hour before applying makeup. Dab Milk of Magnesia on the pimple to quickly absorb oil and disinfect. Let it dry, and then rinse off before applying makeup. Hold an ice cube on the pimple for one minute. The ice constricts blood vessels
Cold Sores
To treat a cold sore or fever blister, take a teaspoon of baking soda and add a drop of warm water to create a paste. Apply to blister and allow to harden for about 10 to 15 minutes. The sodium bicarbonate in baking soda reduces bacteria to speed healing.
Eczema
If you suffer from eczema, evening primrose oil may be useful. It contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). There are skin products made with primrose oil, but a more effective and less expensive solution is to purchase the oil or individual capsules in pure form. Apply to eczema patches. Or eat parsley! Homeopathic practitioners claim it keeps eczema under control.
Massage Therapist Secret
Mix together 4 tablespoons sea salt with 1/2 cup olive oil and the juice of one lemon. Massage the mixture over dry skin all over the body, staying away from the face and neck. Shower off under warm water with a coarse wash cloth.
Anti-Bloating Treatment
Magnesium chloride found in salt water can actually draw out excess water weight. To help with bloating due to PMS, too much salt, or simply to look fabulous in that figure revealing dress, add one cup of Epsom salts to a warm bath and soak for at least 15 to 20 minutes.
Sunburn Reliever
Mix one teaspoon of Aloe Vera gel with one teaspoon honey. Apply it to the affected area for a few minutes. Rinse off with cool water. The mixture will cool the skin while preventing peeling.
