From an ugly home haircut to a gum in your hair, from the toe hair to the nipple hair… hair it’s on our minds (and heads). Here’s the best solutions to your hair problems!
Repair a Home Haircut
I know sometimes it’s so tempting to cut that stray hair or chop a bit at your bangs that you just can’t help yourself. Those bangs were in your eyes!
- If you can, get to your stylist and have her give you a quick dry snip. It won’t cost you much, and no, you’re not the first.
- Use styling gel (the stiffest you can find).
- Get very creative with barrettes or a scarf.
Hair Static
Run a fabric softener sheet over the hair shaft to quickly tame it down.
Hair Knot
Constrain yourself from trying to brush out that knot. It will only make it worse. Instead, apply some conditioner or detangler over the tangled area to soften. Then use a bobby pin to gently pick strands out of the snag one at a time. Never use water because although it initially makes hair more pliable will cause the knot to tighten as it dries.
Hair Frizz
Lip balm can smooth hair frizz in a pinch.
No Hair Rollers?
Use metal cans or sturdy plastic cups sized according to the volume and curl you need.
Fast Hair Shine
Grab some vegetable oil from the kitchen (olive oil is best) and rub it in the palms of your hands to create heat, and then gently pat over hair shaft. Be sure to avoid the scalp area.
Gum in Hair!
Freeze that gum out with an ice cube. Place the cube over the gum. Once it’s stiff, the gum peels off.
Hair Indentations
Wearing clips and elastics can cause hair to have visible denting. To remove, spray hair with water and comb the dent out while blow drying on a high setting.
Remove Excess Hair Product
- Sprinkle baking soda in your hair and leaning over from your waist, brush it all out.
- A handful of oatmeal can be used to absorb excess grease and product. Rub the flakes into your hair and then brush them on to a newspaper.
- Add volume to the roots by lifting your hair in sections and blow dry using only your fingers.
Unsightly Hair Roots
When your hair growth is really noticeable, only use a product that can be washed out. My favorite is to take powdered eye shadow matching the color as closely as possible. Simply rub it in with your index finger. Yellows, gold, and peach are obvious choices for blondes. There are lots of brown shadows to choose from for dark hair.
Hair Dye Dilemma
Tone down a garish hair disaster by massaging in a few drops of olive oil into dry hair and covering it with a shower cap for 20 minutes. Shampoo thoroughly with a clarifying shampoo or a mild dishwashing detergent.
Chin Hair
They’re more likely to be coarse, and kind of stick out, and are the result of hormones. They usually happen to women who are on birth control pills, pregnant, or menopausal. If there’s just a couple, pluck them. More than a few? Consider laser or electrolysis.
Toe Hair
Don‘t kid yourself that your toe hair it’s unnoticeable. It’s as visible as your pedicure, so do what you have to do to get read of it.
- Use a home waxing kit.
- Shave it off each time you shave your legs
- If you have just a few, tweeze them out. They will grow out slowly.
Nipple Hair
Tweeze it if there’s just one or two. Consider electrolysis. If there is a patch of hair, check out your laser options.
